DESCRIPTION: Caused by a Sawfly, these galls occur after the female prepares them so as to lay her eggs inside. After hatching about 7 days later the greenish-white larvae feed on the rolled leaf for about 4 weeks then move into the soil to overwinter in cocoons. Here they pupate and the adults emerge in May/June. DISTRIBUTION: Widespread from the Midlands southwards. Scarcer to the north. HABITAT: Found on various varieties of Rose.
